Over the past few months, as I've been exploring different AI applications and speaking with sustainability professionals along the way, I've confirmed what I believed from early on, and what actually pushed me to start developing and documenting how I use AI as a sustainability manager.
sustainability professionals are trying to copy use cases from sales teams, from marketing, or consuming content about how developers are using AI.
The problem?
These use cases will never be directly beneficial to us in sustainability. And if you've ever watched developers talk about AI, you probably felt like a caveman who will never be able to use it like they do.
Well... that's kind of correct. You will never use AI like developers do, because you're not a developer. Which is fine!
But here's the thing: you don't need to be a developer to use AI. In fact, it's the exact opposite. AI now lets you accomplish complex tasks despite not being a developer. That's the whole point.
And this confirms something frustrating: sustainability professionals have been left completely alone. No one is creating or documenting workflows, use cases, or how-to guides that actually help us perform our jobs more productively, save time, and get better quality outputs.
I've decided to change this.
